Water Based Lubricants
Water-based lubricants, such as Astroglide and KY Jelly are designed to be used with any toys as it is water based and therefore washes off easily without damaging any toys. Water based lubricant is also compatible with latex and will not damage condoms in the same way as a petroleum based lubricant would.
The biggest advantage of water-based lubricant is the easy cleanup: You simply rinse off the toy with warm water and is ready to use again. However, don't think about using water-based lubricant with any of your toys in the water because it will just wash off, therefore defeating the point.
Water based lubricant is recommended to use with silicone toys - using a silicone lubricant will damage your toy. Silicone is made up of tiny glass beads so if you rub silicone against silicone it will rub against your toy like sandpaper and eventually graze the surface. So stick with a water-based lube for your premium silicone toys, and use silicone lubrication for the purpose for which it was intended!
